the latest book i finished reading listening to was da vinci code by dan brown. i read angels & demons a few months ago and couldn't put it down and raved about it to anyone who would listen. and while da vinci code also left me on the edge of my seat, i can't say i loved it quite as much. i think it's because there were a lot of parallels between the two books, so this one didn't seem as fresh of an idea or characters.

but with all that said, i still thought it was a great, fun read and would recommend it to anyone. and i'm also probably going to buy the movie, because i've never seen it. also, i think i may be a good ten years behind the dan brown craze. haha oh well..and just like the rest of the world, i think his books are exciting and interesting and are slowly but surely turning me into a conspiracy theorist.

and, as always, i would like to share a few favorite quotes from the book:

"men go to far greater lengths to avoid what they fear than to obtain what they desire."

"history is always written by the winners. when two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books-books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe. as napoleon once said, 'what is history, but a fable agreed upon?'"

"faith-acceptance of which we imagine to be true, that which we cannot prove."

"when a question has no correct answer, there is only one honest response. the gray area between yes and no. silence."

"authors, he thought. even the sane ones are nuts."
